2/8-2/15: North Carolina

Two of our dear friends from college moved to North Carolina a year apart from each other. Needless to say we wanted to catch up with them while in this state!

Our first 3 nights were spent with a friend that I attended most of my classes with through undergrad and who lived on Alyssa's floor. It was so incredible to catch up after two and a half years being apart! We also had the opportunity to spend time with her boyfriend for the first time. :) We loved the chance to meet so important to her! One night we had North Carolina BBQ (probably prefer Texas BBQ, but it was worth a try!) and another we cooked dinner together in her house. There were many moments of laughter...and times of heart to heart. Some of the most precious moments are hard to capture on a blog that is full of summaries. It was time I will forever treasure...and never forget.

The next 3 nights we spent with a friend that we met between my junior and senior years of college (after Alyssa had graduated) at a house we were subletting a room from until we could move into our apartment. She had been another summer submitter, and we hit it off right away! This time we had the opportunity to spend the time in her beautiful home that she had recently moved into. :) We enjoyed home cooked food, a delicious meal out, a time of bowling, and playing some games. Then there was the bathroom leak and the ice covering the car our last morning too. ;) Memories and laughter galore!

We were so abundantly blessed by our week in North Carolina.

On the sightseeing side of things, we were too exhausted for most of it to do much of anything. However, we did manage to explore two museums on one of the last days which were both great. One was the Museum of Natural Sciences. We learned about whales and habits, and Alyssa experienced a butterfly room for the first time. Then we walked over to the North Carolina Museum of History where we learned about the history of the state. The exhibits were interactive and informative! If you are ever in Raleigh, I highly recommend both museums...and they are free!

*My first time seeing a live frog that looked like the plastic frogs I played with as a kid ;)
